And as I responded in the PM, you have been extremely disrespectful and have been reported to the admin staff and this will progress as outlined in that report to the admin staff.

There was no disrespect and i informed you of the proceeding's, there is no problem with you contacting avast about your issues or questions but that topic as i said would have just inspired the trolls for a hayday and it also had nothing to do with the subject matter of the thread which was to do with flags.

I am assuming from your statements here and your statements in your PM that nobody is allowed to start a thread that asks questions about the Avast Privacy Policy on this forum.  Is that assumption correct?

As I just wrote just now in a PM in response to another member, I cannot believe how disrespectful that was to me and how sad I feel right now.  I never dreamed in a month of Sundays something like that kind of censorship would take place on this foum.

This is a bad day for me!

You can ask about the privacy policy by all means as i didn't mind answering your questions about it  but the topic was just vearing more and more towards the said subject matter and not to do with the thread topic as i mentioned and explained to you in the pm and i felt through better jugment that you could have your questions better answered by avast directly and without this thread becoming a haven for the trolls, again i stipulate that it was nothing personal against yourself.

Any other matters are up to the Mods and our role is to report such things to the Mods.

ManyQs is completely free to start his/her own thread without highjacking one about flags.

How hard is that to understand and to do???

As I have to reconstruct events that took place here before the deletes were done from memory and not being clear on if this moderation staff uses a soft delete tool I would appreciate your copies of this thread that you have that you used as your base of analysis for your advice, CharleyO

Thank you in advamce for your assistance.

That is not the point here.

The point is that the posts were deleted for the wrong reason.
Deletion of posts based on speculation alone, is wrong. Nobody knows where this thread would have gone with the questions that were asked.

Aside from that, the job of those with that power is to manage spam.

The reasoning behind the deletion was the possibility of the thread going off topic, and becoming a "haven for the trolls".  Well, the thread has gone off topic, as a result anyway. Pretty much any thread in this forum goes off topic anyway...

In my opinion, this shouldn't have happened.

There should be a soft delete function, IMHO all users with this power should be subject to this, for exactly this reason.

I'll bet ManyQs is reluctant to post the same questions in their own thread, since they could well be removed again, I would be.

Agreed but not reversible therefore,
the only good this can do is if it is used as a learning tool to make sure it doesn't happen again.
ManyQ should still start his own topic.

Posts should never be hard deleted, whatever the reason for removing them.  The simplest and best way is to have a hidden forum where all "toxic" content is moved and permanently stored. The site admin can restore content if needed/desired  anything else is kept as evidence.

I have had situations where posts/threads were removed and then needed to settle legal arguments, if it's gone your case can be impossible. Staff other than the primary admin shouldn't be allowed to delete anything.

Okay, let me bring y'all up-to-date.

Firstly, I received a response to my report and one of the admin folks has indicated to me that an error took place.  We'll just leave it at that.  bob3160 is correct in stating this should be used as a learning tool by you moderator folks and no point in getting too carried away out here on the main board.

But there is a second point I think some of y'all may not be aware of.  It was not I that asked the frist question about who can view IP addresses.  Yes, it was I that asked why such an important question had not been addressed, but that was after I waited about 6 days for an answer to be posted.

And I made it very clear why I was felt the original question about the IP addresses shouldn't have been left hanging, so to speak.  Because it was a question that got right to the heart of what Avast is all about -- Net security and privacy rights and all that stuff.

So I have permission to start the new thread and I will, but it's coming up on 4am here in Japan and I should try to get some sleep.  That's rather obvious from the stupid mistake I just made over in that other thread.  I'm tired.

Oh yes, we are getting back to the flag issue, right?

So it seems the key is whether enough folks post here for support of us being able to get our flags back.  It might help if many, many, and more many want that little flag thingy put back in.

And please remember what I wrote in the OP --  not avater flags.  The other one we used to have.

Sayonara for now.

Over at Wilders, they've got a "Time-Out Room" forum for more or less this purpose ... not even hidden, just can't be posted to.  Whether threads there can be "resuscitated" if appropriate and moved back to the main forums I don't know, but at least they remain visible for review.
