Avast Free/Firefox 13 Beta
« on: April 26, 2012, 04:38:36 PM »
I am thinking about trying Firefox 13 Beta.
Does anybody think that there is likely to be a problem with Avast Free?

Windows XP and 7 SP1
Avast Free 7.0.1426
Malwarebytes Pro

I doubt there will be any problem, though as has been mentioned beta's are beta's. But this rather depends on what problem you might be talking about.

Currently some people are having a problem with the script shield in FF11.0 and FF 12.0, so I rather doubt that would change in the FF 13.0 beta.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Thanks.
Perhaps i won't try it.
It took ages with FF12 to get everything running on all cylinders.
At the moment everything is working as i should,so i am loathed to upset anything.
When we get to Beta 4/5 i might think again.

Nah, no need to worry, I'm using it with Firefox 15 and there are no problems.

Interesting,thanks.
What operating system are you using?
I have found that i can throw anything  at my XP toy but Windows 7 is a little different. It has taken ages to get all the shields working.

I have been using Firefox Beta's only for months.  I haven't noticed any problems with avast! 7 including WebRep.

Update:  I just updated to FF 13.0 B1 and all my 35 add-ons (talk about taking it to the limit LOL) are working fine including WebRep which is showing a nice solid green on Bing.com. :)   If anything of note changes in the next day or so I will update again.

P.S.  Once you are on the Firefox Beta channel the weekly updates they now put out are very small in nature.  Since I have been on the Firefox Beta channel going back a number of months the only problems I have experienced are some memory leakage problems for a couple of weeks with Firefox 12.0 Beta (sorry I can't recall the numbers) and with Adobe Flash Beta updates running in Firefox.  They tend to crash now and again.   I don't like the crashing of Adobe but I figure it is worth the occasional page reload to get a bit better safety?  Note:  These crashes may have nothing to do with being a the Firefox Beta channel but rather due to being on the Adobe Flash Beta channel.
