All the shields are useless to me

• The file shield is useless to me since it stops my iMac shutting down without manual intervention i.e press and hold stop/start button and switch the shield off in the preferences
• most email from my email accounts are retrieved using https
• The web shield prevents access to the Mac App store using Apples "App Store.app"

1) Does the system just hang? Can you provide any detail?

3) If you disable the web shield can you access the App store? I Just tested on OS 10.7.3 and was able to access the App Store. Perhaps tho is only Snow Leopard? I will try to find a Snow Leopard computer to test.
