No response from direct contact to support, no way to shut this off, it's gone off twice in 5 minutes. Anyone thinking of buying AVAST... stop, turn around and RUN. When your Anti-virus is more spyware than spyware is, it's time to stop using them.

You're being answered by a lot of members and from avast! team. You'll get the support that you want if you stay on topic and ask for help. If you want to stop using avast!, it's a pity, but it's up to you :)

This post is old but I have to agree with the origional poster.  These pop ups are annoying the hell out of me and I'm too considering using an alternative to Avast just based on these annoying pop ups.  It starting to feel like harrassment!

I can easy renew when I want but thats not the point.  I'm the customer with my money in my pocket and I don't need to be baggered every day.

Could be time to say goodbye to Avast unless a solution to this intrusive problem arises.

The simplest solution is still the renew option.
If the pop up is that annoying that that you actually change to another AV,
Then 2 things will happen:

1. You'll probably receive less protection and,
2. Next year, it will be the other AV companies annoying renewal reminders that you'll be looking at.

Have a great day. :)

you can disable the alerts
<snip image>

You can't disable the update or renewal notifications from the image you posted, that allows you to lower the duration it appears and 0 'zero' doesn't disable it. One, 1, is the lowest accepted value, 0 is ignored.

You can disable the update notifications from the Settings, Updates section. But in all honesty that is a sledge hammer to crack a nut as Bob said easiest to renew.

I also don't believe the renewal notifications are linked to the update notifications so my suggestion may not work either.

In the post that was quoted of course, totally pointless to continually post images in quotes.

I agree it doesn't make sense to disable the protection updates that you have paid for and I also believe that its a pop up thats unrelated to the updates.

This is a real dampener on Avast to use these type of tactics.  And even a bigger one that there isn't a simple option to disable the annoying renewal message.  OK we get the message > tick here.  We have used Avast for years.

I fully understand that a single reminder is a good idea and that Avast would like to retain business from their customers (you know the 80/20 rule at all that) but when you are a business owner of a number of computers these daily bombardments are not funny.

Its been said a couple of times in this thread to just renew.  Well of course we all could all do that easy peasy but why should we have to renew before the end of our current purchase??

I'm currently looking at other options now for protection across all my PC's, Laptops etc which is something that I hadn't even considered until these intrusive pops started to appear.  Without the harrassement I would have honestly just renewed.

And do you know the funny thing about all this is, that every time I boot one of our PC's and the annoying pop from arrives, it reminds me to seek another security software solution.

Reminders to renew is a practice used by all AV's I know of. It may not be to any ones (Except the Companies) liking but, it's a fact.
Switching because the other AV will give you better protection makes sense. avast! is my choice because it has done it's job of keeping my system secure.
Changing for the sake of an unpopular pop up doesn't make sense because you'll only get it again from another vendor when their term expires.
Your computer, your money, your choice. :)

Honestly, I don't know what all of you were whining about.

Just register the program. You don't even have to pay for it. Just install the free version, then register with the email address of your choice and the "register" messages won't appear anymore.

If you don't want to be bothered with occasional email from Avast, use an address you don't access often. I always keep an extra free email address like this for signing up for things where I may get promotion email. It's really not a big deal.

Replying to a topic that's been dormant for 3 month doesn't really accomplish anything. :)
