taskbar
« on: December 20, 2004, 07:06:59 PM »
I just installed avast three days ago.  THe avast icon was in the taskbar after installation. I did a re-boot and now the icon (revolving  icon) is not there.  Should it be there?  How do I get it back there ? Thanks

Try to do a repair first and see if that helps.

Add Remove Programs > avast! Anti-virus > click the Change/Remove button, from the Change option scroll down and select Repair... You will need to be on-line at the time.

I did the repair as you suggested...it still isn't there.  Do i have to restart my computer after doing the repair? WHat else should I do?

What OS are you using?
Do you have another anti-virus program installed or did you have a previous anti-virus installed?
Are you getting any warning messages, if so what are they?

What do you mean it's not there? it should be there...

Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).

If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

I get no error...i had norton anti virus and trend micro.  I removed them, though.  The icon was there until i re=installed my network server.  That was yesterday.  Should i uninstall and then reinstall?  Will I use the same license number?

Unless NAV was completely remove, you will have problems. Click on the link in my signature and get the uninstall utility from Symantec.
