why block streaming updates using comodo firewall? just turn it of in avast gui under cloud services -> settings

It's a good idea to make mutual exclusions in both avast and your firewall. This will prevent any "blocking" which might occur.
I am assuming you have just the Comodo firewall and not the version with the anti-virus. Having two resident av's could prove to
be a really bad idea.
