Real time Web Shield
« on: April 30, 2012, 09:45:43 AM »
Hi,

I'm facing with a problem in these days.

Sometimes, I'mt not able to browse the web, either with IE or FireFox. Brwosers were not able to load the page just like a cable disconnnection.
However, the net connection is good. For example I can normal ping another pc on the net.
As soon as I disable the real-time Web Shield all come back to normal, I can browse etc.

What's wrong?

My PC:
Win7(64bit), the last avast upodated.

Anyone has a solution?

I have the same problem since I've updated to 7.0.1456, yesterday I updated 7.0.1474 and the problem continues.
The only solution to have connection to Internet is disable Web Shield.

I have 2 PC with Windows XP SP3 and the 2 have the same problem.

After a program update it is possible that a firewall blocks new/updated avast processes.

What is your firewall ?
Does it allow avastSvc.exe internet access ?
- If it does delete the entry for it and reconnect to the internet, this should force the firewall to ask permission again.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I use Windows Firewall, but avastSvc.exe doesn't appear in the permission list... I add it manually and reconnect Internet but nothing changes.

I tried to disable the Firewall too and the same problem still continues.

Unfortunately the XP firewall has zero outbound protection so that shouldn't be the issue, you can turn it back on if you already done so.

Try a repair of avast:
XP - Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and select Repair, click next and follow.

If that doesn't work it will probably need to be a clean reinstall.
