"Threat Detected" Alarms Driving Me Crazy
« on: May 04, 2012, 11:36:01 PM »
Help!  Being constantly assailed by alarm "pop up" messages that disrupt my work and concentration; just started appearing today.  Apparently, the Trojan and Rootkit attack happened last night.  How long must I endure such constant interruptionssince deleting the chest files is not recommended?  Going crazy in Oregon.

Run a full scan with avast. Send infected files to Chest. Be clean :)

Infected files:  Win64: Sirefef-A [Trj] and Win32: Sirefef-AQ are all reportedly locked in the chest, already, so why the incessant alerts telling me they are blocked?  Thanks for the tip to run a full scan.  We'll see soon if that helps.  I've enjoyed Avast for two years now, but have never before had this happen.

Hi, the popups show the file name or URL where the virus was found (not only virus name, like   Win64: Sirefef-A [Trj] and Win32: Sirefef-AQ ). Avast does not display popups for items already in the Chest, so you don't have to worry about deleting the contents of the chest - this is probably not your problem, the virus is.

What is the filenames/URLs you are being warned on?

Edit: you might also post screenshots of the warnings, if unsure what is the filename on the dialog. It will help virus removal specialists here.
