avast heuristic warnings for .mht using thunderbird-cant see email

Hi, I have read some of the earlier posts with avast warning users on acceptance of emails with attached saved '.mht' html file content, whilst using their browser of choice. My issue is that I would like to be able to read the emails text content, but.. I use thunderbird with avast. The email shows nothing at all except for an avast warning in the subject line, even if I add a long paragraph of text together with an attachment, eg

 Content :
 Suspicious extension(s) of attachment
 * Google.mht
Sender:  x <x@yahoo.co.uk>
Recipient:  "x@yahoo.co.uk" <x@yahoo.co.uk>

Even if I am not given the choice of downloading the actual .mht attachment, I would like to be able to read the emails text, but the emails subject hints that avast is somehow blocking it getting through-although I might be wrong. Is this likely to be mainly a thunderbird problem,or incompatibility whilst using both? I know mht file attachments arent that common but I would like to find out which program might give me the solution of reading these avast checked emails in thunderbird so I can work out their origin. since this seems to be an yahoo account.....cant you log in to yahoo webmail and read it ?

Ill have to log in to yahoo directly at the moment-aside from junkmail with the similar attached files (not too common-only had it once or twice), someone I know has been sending emails with attachments (web design,with some files in mht format). Having too many email accounts, I like to use thunderbird for reading all of them at once. For now I'll just force them to change the attachment format, or (if it works) get them to zip all their files up for once,lol. It wouldve been handy to find a solution to at least read the text of these emails to give hint at the attached file content. I might be wrong, but I dont think thunderbird downloads accepted attachments to my computer when I click to read the email, I still have to click on the attachment to get it. I wouldnt recommend to anyone to turn off avast if it blocked an entire emails content because of a suspicious attachment, even if they know the sender, so in my case a change in file format should be the best option until theres a fix, if possible-thanks for your reply

your mail is also scanned by Yahoo...using Norton AV

msn/Hotmail/Live mail use Trend Micro
Gmail use Authentium and McAfee

thats a good point-it might be the same with other antivirus programs using thunderbird. I just wish there was an option in it allowing me to see its basic text content. I might try another multi-email service to see if theres a difference. Probably not-its not a major issue, I just end up sticking with something in order to find a solution-too much time thanks

I believe there is a problem with Thunderbird reading MHT files.  At least there was for a long time since version 3.1.  I don't know if it has ever been fixed
