Cannot remove AVAST! Corrupted by a Virus!

Hi, First off, I'm  new to this forum, Thank you for having me!  Avast has been corrupted, when i try to remove the check mark from the "Self Defense Module, and click "OK" and close it it just re-inititalizes itself! I can not unintall it either! I can NOT over write it either with a new version, either a "FREE" or PAID Version! I've gone into the registry and tried to delete ALL known files, and they just come back!on boot up!  Anyone have any NEW ideas? I'm running Win 7 32 bit. 2gig's of ram.Thank you.

I already tried this, yesterday, NOTHING works!  This uninstall tool failed right off the bat, The "SELF Defense Module" is Corrupted too! I'm going to need a more powerful removal tool!!

You booted into Safe Mode and couldn't run the removal tool

The self defense isn't running in safe mode..!!
Please reread the instructions and try again.

Hi, Thanks for responding, the removal tool will NOT work in Safe Mode, All I get is an error message! I was absolutely SHOCKED!!!,  when I tried to run it in SAFE  MODE, and it FAILED!!  WOW!!!  Now I am in TROUBLE!!  I am Here, because I tried everything , before I started to ask for HELP! This is on a WINDOWS 7, 32 bit, 2 gig's of ram.  Thank You.

its not a virus buddy! many folks avast 6 have packed in, and will be giving you many serious system problems, like for eg system restore not working, you cant uninstal etc etc etc, and connectivity issues for those with mobile modems, and unexpected restart issues. which i agree ARE very viral-like.

i took me LOTS of goes, BUT eventually the above uninstaller link does work (in safe mode) HOWEVER i and my friends have found that the new avast 7 wont unpack itself. and u need to shred the installer.exe to get rid of it, it wont delete. it thinks its busy.
its really sad such a brilliant anti-virus has come to this!! but am still watching with interest to see what happens, and keeping figers crossed as i would like to see it back on top. also i dont like using avg so wanna revert to avast soon as, but cant for now.

You where asked a simple question to try to get to the bottom of this.
Maybe you don't really want to solve a "problem" but simply spread the word about "your problem"

my problem is that i have had this same problem AND NOW MY PC IS SCREWED, SO I obviously WANT a fix. i said "buddy" as i was trying to be friendly. remember that quality?
stick to the point and please, is there a way to get version 7 to install after finally getting rid of version 6? that is to say, once you get rid of version 6 (the one that stopped working here) and try to install the new version (7), it will not install. (and this is true ofr many folk, not just me), i simply want a fix for what has in the past appeared to be the best free antivirus i have ever used.
