'Some files could not be scanned'
« on: May 11, 2012, 09:09:31 AM »
I'm using the trial on top of the free version... just got a 'some files could not be scanned' message - they are 8 avast! defs (definitions?) files. This is the first time I've had the message even though I run a full scan every night. Now running Malwarebytes and MSE. If they are genuine avast! files they are presumably safe but how do I know they aren't malicious files disguised to look like avast! files? Do I repair or delete?

Don't worry, avast! just removed old defs while scanning and therefore can't find/scan them anymore.

noticed that u have MSE installed. it is an antivirus and it must be removed, whether it is used real-time or not

running more than 1 antivirus on-demand/ real-time could lead to system instability or unbootable system.

edit: if u cannot uninstall MSE normally, please use the tool provided from this website.

AntiVirusASet is right about having two resident av's see http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic260844.html/page__p__1441638#entry1441638

For other uninstallers see http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/

Using MalwareBytes Free or Pro and Super Anti-Spyware will not cause conflicts with avast.
You may want to use "default" setting during a scan.  :)
