800 NUMBER FOR AVAST AND THUNDERBIRD PROBLEMS
« on: March 04, 2013, 09:33:36 PM »
Hi,

I am having a problem with Avast and Thunderbird so called an 800 number that was advertised in a Google search for support.

The responder told me the problem is unsolvable, which I do not believe, and to uninstall Avast.  He then recommended a Microsoft product.

Is the 800 number a front for a Microsoft office playing dirty tricks on the competition???

Thank you

Richard Boroff

I honestly don't know as you didn't mention the number, but it would be unusual for avast 3rd party support to recommend using another product. There have been some bad experiences with 3rd party support but not in this way, some have had them try to sell them a support service indicating the problem isn't covered in the free support.

So that said I feel you are better off using the forums to resolve the problem as in your second topic, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=116783.0.

You're welcome.

Yes, nothing to do with avast, and I believe that was the problem, they don't appear to have any experience of avast so would palm you off on another VA in the hope that that resolves the problem.
