>:( so there is no possibility to turn off AVAST ??? ??? And paused shioelds means still active and wont let me downbload the file.
Maybe prevent Avast from loading on startup? ??? ?
I need the application on my computer

If I understand this correctly, you have a program that is detected by avast! and you want your AV to compromise itself
so you can use this infection ???

Maybe even blame avast for allowing his system to get compromised...... ???

oh ... I dont want you to download that file. And I worte that I take the risk, because I know how to deactivate the adware, but for that I need it on my PC.
You can make test be dowloading the eicar test (I hope I have it right in my mind). Stop file shield and try to download

Very simple, remove avast! and then play with your toy.
You either want protection or you don't you can't have it both ways.

1. Maybe it's as easy as just deactivating PUP. ;)
2. How is Eicar related to this..?? ???

Right click the avast icon in system tray and select 'Show last pop-up'.  Screenshot that and attach in next reply.

Although as your last post was yesterday here @ 3:52:12 AM, not likely you will be able to recover that particular pop-up.  There should have been a couple of vps updates noted since then.

Hey all, this might be an old topic but i tried to follow the advice of the pros here for temporarily disabling avast but i still have a problem.

The situation is like this. I am convinced i have a zero access rootkit attached to my services.exe file because i can't seem to turn on my windows standard firewall nor my Windows Security Centre Service (both say they can't be turned on when i try to do so). Therefore i'm following this website http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-zeroaccess-rootkit/ to try to cleanse my computer. I'm at step 2 using combofix. I've downloaded combofix but it requires me to turn off avast or any antivirus i have running. I've temporarily disabled avast but somehow combo fix still registers avast as being ACTIVE, and therefore i risk damage to my machine/computer if i run combofix while avast is active. But i don't know how to turn off avast any further beyond disabling it as you guys have advised. Can anyone advise or help me with this?

Thank you very much!
