Turn off Avast.
« on: May 16, 2012, 07:16:30 PM »
All i need to do is turn off Avast.
I've looked and looked and I can't find a turn off button.
I don't want to uninstall it, just turn it off while I fix another problem.
Any help out there?

Which is the another problem? ;)
It's not wise to turn off the antivirus...

Anyway, right click the icon and choose "avast! shields control".

Anyway, right click the icon and choose "avast! shields control".

and doing so is Avast completely turned off???  I mean it will not detect virus for example?
I also searched a long time to option to deactived Avast for a short time and I am surprised to read that this option is by right click the icon and choose "avast! shields control" ??? I am not at home now so I can not check, but could some one explain to me what happens after right click the icon and choose "avast! shields control". It will give me option to choose for how long I would like to disable Avast or what? Or will this lead me to where the different shileds can be stopped?

Once you have right clicked the avast ball then scroll over "avast! shields control" and options will appear for you to disable shields for varied amounts of time.

You installed avast! to protect you from infections. Why in the world would you now want to turn off that protection
to infect your system ???

Well stands to reason that if you disable the shields then yes it wont detect viruses and you'll be unprotected as Bob3160 mentioned.

please answer to my question wheater/how Avast will completely turn off?
I have one application whtich I uploaded/ backed up to my online storage platform and I would like to download it again. But Avast (file shield) stops this every time, what is actually correct, because the application contains Adware. BUT I know know to disable the adware, so I know the risk.
I thought I will deactivate the file shiled , will download the application, will make exclusion rules in Avast to prevent that file to be scanned and will activate the file shield again. But nevertheless the fileshilds pops up that is blocked some malware in .part file in temp folder and I can not download the application. Creating exclusion rules in the file shield for .part in thethe temp folder does not work...

so what now?
