Avast has my machine locked up
« on: May 18, 2012, 07:23:03 AM »
Hi,

I'm using windows xp with sp3 and all the latest updates, earlier today after a update my machine shut down, and after submitting an error report
to microsoft, I got a reply that it was my virus protection.  I am unable to boot into safemode with networking since the problem, I am also unable
to uninstall avast, I click on change/remove in add remove programs and it the display just flickers.  I had just updated my free version to the 20
day trial.  I am unable to do anything in xp.  after a few minutes I get a blue screen, and each time microsoft says it's my antivirus.  Can somebody
please tell me how to uninstall avast so I can install the new version from my flash drive.  I did a boot scan and it didn't even complete, it just started
then my computer rebooted before it was finished.

Can you download and run http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/SMFixer.shtml ?
Will it help?
