Same way you are supposed to remove all Windows programs....Control Panel>>Add/Remove Programs, or Control Panel>>Programs & Features, depending on your OS.

If that does not work, use the uninstall utility in safe mode>>http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

With that finished, now you can get a real virus and learn the difference between an invasive/malfunctioning antivirus program and something that installs rootkits and sends out your passwords.

That's strange, I've used avast! since 2003 and count the number of requests to convert on one hand.
