FLOPPY DISKS
« on: January 02, 2005, 04:11:33 AM »
I scanned several of my floppy disks for the first time this morning and they were all clean for the most part.  One in particular didn't show anything that was definitely  infected, however three of jpgs. on the disk appeared on the log but without an explaination of what was   wrong.  I clicked on the first one of the three, and then clicked on the move button, and it began processing (I assumed it was) but after al ong period of waiting I deceided to cancel the action.  Now when I tried to open up that same disk it just kept spinning and none of the pictures opened up.  Does Avast disable the disk in some way after finding anything objectionable on it?

Hi,

No, I have eicar on a floppy disc and it works perfectly after scanning. The floppy has probably worn out. To test this try using scandisk on it.

Delta.

Edit to add that scandisk wont be able to read the floppy disc either ::)
