WebRep causing IE9 to crash
« on: March 15, 2013, 12:34:35 AM »
Has anyone else run into this? Is there a fix for it?

I ran into a computer today that every time she tried to open an attachment to her Outlook.com email messages, Internet Explorer 9 crashed and tried to reload the page.

The attachments were clean .pdf files.
System was running Windows 7 x64 with Internet Explorer 9.
Latest version of Adobe Reader installed.
Using Outlook.com (Office 365) for her email.
Avast version was Free version 7.0.1474

The only way it would work correctly was to disable Avast's WebReport plugin. Then everything opened correctly and Internet Explorer did not crash.

Do the following:

1) Install IE10 via Windows Update after installation it will ask you to restart
2) Uninstall avast! 7 via add/remove and restart
3) After restart, download this http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility, but don't run it
4) Open your computer/laptop in safe mode. Run that utility. Once you open up that utility there is a small arrow pointing downwards click on that and select avast!7 Free Edition, click uninstall. It will uninstall it for you and will ask you to restart.
5) Install the new and improved, cool looking avast! 8 http://www.avast.com/index

Hope this one will help!
