Home 4.5, Win XP, and Password Protected Files?
« on: December 27, 2004, 04:07:04 AM »
Greetings.  I downloaded/installed Home Ed 4.5 late Nov/early Dec and had some interesting things occur that I have only now been able to inquire here about.  I have Win XP and when run full scan, archive files, I get a list of 200+ files that it indicates are password protected & cannot scan.  I have NOT password protected files, neverless 200+ of them!  Any clues on what these might be, why they are showing password protected and how to stop this?

And the problem is?????

As has been explained multiple times on this board, there are applications that encrypt some of their files. (eg: spybot, ad-aware, jvm etc)

The thing you see is perfectly normal and is no reason to worry about. Avast (nor any other av) can scan files that are pw protected or encrytpted in a way the av doesn't know.

If you want to know if the file(s) that are not scanned are harmfull or not, have a look at their location. That already will give you a good clue.
