Problems with Avast Configuration
« on: June 04, 2012, 01:14:38 PM »
Hello,

if I try to configure Avast preferences (mail ssl) a popup message appear with "Konfigurationsfehler" (configure failure). I have to look in my system log.
Code: [Select]
04.06.12 12:41:05,726 System Preferences: Error writing host file: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=517 "Die Datei „avastPrefPane.NgHJMT“ konnte nicht mithilfe der Textcodierung „Westeuropäisch (ASCII)“ gesichert werden." UserInfo=0x4008a4da0 {NSFilePath=/tmp/avastPrefPane.NgHJMT, NSStringEncoding=1}
Can i fix this error?

Thanks
Lars

What address (server) are you trying to add? It looks like it can not be represented as ASCII, which is very strange...

Normal mail servers:

imap.o2online.de
p02-imap.mail.me.com

nothing special....

I'm using Lion german. Maybe there's an error somewhere in the lion configuration with west-european ascii.

The non-ASCII characters will most probably already be present in your /etc/hosts file which is used to load/store the servers. Check the content of /etc/hosts and delete the non-ASCII characters to fix the issue.
