For hotmail settings:

Use port 11110 (four 1's  ;)) instead of 1110  :)
Also uncheck 'Use secure connection (SSL)'

You are having 'Mrpostman' Open at the same time as thunderbird aswell right?

For Gmail outgoing setting:

Can you send mails out using thunderbird, because the outgoing settings look fine.

Gmail incoming look fine, try setting your outgoing server settings up with your ISP settings (you should be able to find them on your ISP homepage)

About your hotmail account, do your settings look like mine (apart from username ofcourse) (see below).

I don't see how the prob;ems happening then, so ill make sure i understand what your saying, when you press the  'get mail' button, you get that error message, am i right?

And when you press the 'Write' button and press send after writting the mail, you get the other error message, am i right? (if so, set up outgoing settings for your ISP outgoing settings)

If so, try closing your firewall temporarily, then try sending/receiving the mail again, if no luck, try disabling avast temporarily  :-\

No problem at all, im glad to help.
Now only thing(s) to do are click Tools>extensions and choose any extensions you want for Thunderbird (optional)
Then click Tools>Themes and choose a Skin you want Thunderbird (optional)

After that, just keep Thunderbird up to date and you will be fine, this is done by goping to Tools>options>advanced then click 'check now' under updates.
