Avast 7 Pro vs. Bitdefender
« on: June 11, 2012, 08:03:14 AM »
I suspect I know the answers that I will get on an Avast forum, but I will ask anyway.
My Avast 7 Pro subscription is expiring. It is $39.99 to renew for 1 year.
I am considering switching to Bitdefender ($29.99 for 1 year).
Is one really better than the other?

Why would you switch over to Bitdefender for less than $10, Avast provide better service, stronger support from the Avast forum and finally they offer far more protection than Bitdefender.

I am really unsure of what makes u post this here??

Its based on your own opinion...If u post this on Bitdefender forum they will promote bitdefender and u posted this here so we promote avast!...OH nope.. :-X...I say make your own choice  ;D

You can always use Avast Free version as well.  Avast is strong and gives excellent protection without being bloated software like many others, and does not conflict with other security software mentioned in this forum that are also free.

@ stakan
If you renew your existing avast Pro license via the avastUI, Maintenance, Subscription section, when you are given a reminder, there is usually a renewal discount.

You could check out the cost for renewing for two years as there may well be a further discount that makes any difference less, if it is only price that you are concerned with. Of course as SafeSurf mentions if cost really is a factor then avast free.

Thanks for the replies. It wasn't really a price issue. I was really wondering if there was an advantage to switching to Bitdefender. From all I've read it seems like there might be, but it was easier to just renew Avast, which I have now done. I have had a few minor problems with Avast, but nothing crucial, so I went the easy way and renewed.
