OK really deep this time.  This will generate a Zip file for my analysis, the forum does not allow that type of attachment so could you upload it to a file sharing site like mediafire and let me have the sharing link

Download AVPTool from Here to your desktop

Run the programme you have just downloaded to your desktop (it will be randomly named )

First we will run a virus scan

Click the cog in the upper right

Select down to and including your main drive, once done select the Automatic scan tab and press Start Scan

Allow AVP to delete all infections found
Once it has finished select report tab (last tab)
Select Detected threats report from the left and press Save button
Save it to your desktop and attach to your next post

Now the Analysis

Rerun AVP and select the Manual Disinfection tab and press Start Gathering System Information

On completion click the link to locate the zip file to upload and attach to your next post

I did the Auto Scan. It took almost 7 hours to run and there were no detected threats. Should I proceed with the other steps?

I also ran it initially on both my partitions, but no threats were detected in either.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with Messenger. Over a year ago hotmail tied in your login to auto load when you sign into your email account. I just notice the past two days, I have no access to it.

Could you uninstall messenger as that would confirm an IE only problem

Also did you run the analysis scan with AVP

I'm not seeing where I can uninstall messenger. Do you know what the actual software name is?
No, I didn't run the analysis scan when it didn't detect any issues. Do you want me to do that?

I found it under Windows live essentials.

Uninstall meessenger first to see if that cures it, then update to IE8

If it still occurs then yes I will need the analysis scan

Rename the extension to .zip on this file.

FYI...reinstalling IE8 didn't solve the problem.

Yeah...I'm really frustrated. I use Firefox with no problem, but when I try to use IE, Avast keeps popping up the warning. It's very annoying.

Yes, it's the same url every time. I thought at one point I saw a different one, but I just selected a variety of sites and the same warning is displayed.
