HI,

I HAVE INSTALLED AVAST ANTIVIRUS FREE ON MY ANDROID OS. (ICS)

I AM USING A SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE.

I HAVE NEVER FACED A PROBLEM LIKE THIS BEFORE. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY PHONE IS GIVING AN ALARM SAYIN THAT MY PHONE IS LOST OR STOLEN, AND IT ASKS ME TO ENTER THE PASSWORD.

THE PHONE IS WITH ME, AND I HAVE TRIED ALL POSSIBLE PASSWORDS, I AM NOT ABLE TO ACCESS MY PHONE AT ALL SINCE ALL PASSWORD ATTEMPTS ARE WRONG.

I ALSO TRIED REMOTE UNLOCK AND OTHER FEATURES WITH ALL POSSIBLE PASSWORD COMBINATIONS FROM MY BROTHERS PHONE WHICH WAS REGISTERED TO RECEIVE MESSAGE FROM AVAST.

HIS PHONE RECEIVED A MESSAGE FROM AVAST THAT THE PHONE IS STOLEN ETC, BUT MY PHONE IS NOT STOLEN.

PLS HELP ME URGENTLY.

THANK YOU.

Is your phone rooted?
Did you install avast! antitheft as a device admin?
Maybe you can try a hard reset of the phone.
Not a single password is stored from avast! server side, so, there is no way to "retrieve" it.

My phone is not rooted.

Yes, avast! anti-theft is installed as a device admin.

Will hard reset really work? I have read somewhere in the forum that even after a hard reset, the problem still persists.

Please clarify.

Yes - the hard reset did solve the problem.

But I didn't really wanna go for that option. :(

avast! should guarantee that the thieve won't get access to your data/documents.
We can't lose the password as it cannot be discovered. There is no back door.
Glad you've recover the use of the phone. Sorry for the lose of data.

Did you try?
If your device was rooted, than you'll have to flash a new ROM...
