Why is avast not giving me the option to ignore a file?
« on: June 18, 2012, 11:32:53 AM »
I have added the exclusion to settings\exclusions and also additional protection\settings\exclusions, but auto sandbox is turned off anyway.
But this does not work it still gives the alert.
Also why when the virus alert comes up, and I set it to first ASK me what to do, it only gives me Delete Block and Move to Chest?
But ive changed these settings to ask, move, delete, do nothing.
I have now a file stuck on my desktop, its not in the chest because I deleted it, and when I try to delete it says its being used.Which is Avast using it by blocking it.
Why is there not an option for not scanning for potentially unwanted and suspicious programs?
This is really wasting huge amounts of my time simply trying to use a file I know what it does but avast thinks its not wanted by me.
How on earth do I get the file unstuck from my desktop?(Its ok seems to have unstuck itself when I installed another prog and its icon replaced it?) :-[

why do you want to exclude it ?

you dont give any info on the file

location?
what does avast detect it as?

have you tested the file at virustotal.com

All I want to know is how to make Avast ignore it.
It seems in Avast 7 you can not get given the choice to ignore a file you deem to be safe.
Also do not want Avast to scan for Potentially Unwanted Software, or Suspicious software.
Just the nasty Viruses.
Yes ive done it at virus total it gives mixed results of course.
Im not asking for opinion on the file just how to stop Avast carrying on about it, and any other files in the future.

I had to turn Avast off to use it, I have had it for a year and have analyzed it in IDAPro and monitored it in Sandbox for days it does nothing other than what it is intended to as far as I can see.

Well, this certainly doesn't look like a FP.
It does not come alive it does nothing except when you run it, and it only works from a specific programs folder anyway.

In fact this one is worse, and Avast doesn't bother with it  :o

Well, it's your system anyway. So, if you want to run it, do it in safe mode.

I have comodo it would be telling me if it was running and if you read some of the virus results its just the packer it uses because its bypassing software security.
It makes no changes to any system files according to comodo defense.
But what im saying it, why is it not possible like it used to be in avast, to have it ask you then ignore it?
It wont give me this option even when I set it in settings it gives me 1 of 3 kill options.
So I have to actually turn Avast shields off to use it, because even putting it in exclusion doesn't stop Avast going mental.

That's good, imo.
