DOS boot options
« on: December 29, 2004, 01:28:33 AM »
I was wondering if it is possible to make a bootable copy of Home edition just incase my pc ever became infected to the point that it wouldn't load windows. I know norton supported rescue disks, usually it took 4 disks, but thats besides the point. Anyways I was just curious if I could make a rescue disk or something that i could use just in case.

Sorry, avast does not have a rescue disk feature.
It uses BART CD but it's another application (not free).

You can check on 'Links' in my signature and download avast for DOS.
You must burn a CD with it. There are a lot of good sites of how to make a bootable CD's.

Anyway, do you have Windows XP?

The word Links you can see in my signature... Look below this text:
Maxthon icon than the Brazilian flag, after it you see FAQ and then Links...  8)

Lol I guess I'm not good to go, when I try to install the DOS version it asks for a serial number which i dont have, do i need to buy something or have i missed something? If I don't supply a serial it will only install the demo version which isnt what I really want. Please tell me what I need to do. Thanks.

You missed something. Technical has in one of his threads the number you need. I'm not sure, but think it was in his FAQ's.

Edit: I was almost correct. It was in his link section ;)

Primer, don't read so fast the instructions...
You'll be faster if you do right at the first time  ;D
Like Eddy said, the serial number is there and on my FAQ (signature link) too  8)
