Internet Video Green Screen after update to V8
« on: March 01, 2013, 11:11:44 AM »
After updating my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit computer from Avast V7 to V8 via the update link in Avast, I now only get a green screen instead of video on web pages. Instead of seeing the actual Video playing, the video viewing area is green. I still hear the audio, but no picture. I then ran system restore and un-installed Avast, then reinstalled V 7.01474. I can now see video on web pages again. My graphics card is a AMD Radeon HD6700 with the latest drivers and catalyst version installed. I have all of the latest Windows updates and plugin updates installed. This issue occurred while trying to view videos in both IE10 and Firefox 19.

Has anybody else reported this problem ?

Does anybody know of a fix for this issue ?

EDIT: Looks like the issue is solely with some AMD video cards...

Same here, problems started after updating to newest avast8...
Disabling flash hardware acceleration seems to be a working workaround for now. And yes I have amd 6870 card.

Here is the solution found in this topic:

(To disable Self-defense module: Settings >> Troubleshooting >> uncheck 'Enable avast! self-defense module' option. Don't forget to enable it again!)
