Outlook 2010 cannot load asoutext.dll - runtime error
« on: November 26, 2013, 04:17:17 PM »
Outlook can no longer load the add on for Avast and is automatically disabled. It will not re-enable. Anyone else have this too among the other probs? I really liked previous version. Wish it wasn't changed.

I'm not having this problem, but I am having another Outlook 2007 (Win 7) and Outlook 2003 (XP) problem associated with the newest avast! Free program update 2014.9.0.2008. I can't send emails in Outlook when avast! Free is enabled.

bhunted,
Just to make sure. It really is asoutext.dll and not ashoutext.dll ? A type mismatch is easily made.
Please mention your OS and sevicepack as well as the exact version of avast that you are using.

PamJ,
since you have another problem, you should start a seperate thread for it.

Sorry.... All latest versions.... Correct error. Shows this in screen after I go back and check to see if it were activated.
Windows 7 64 bit....Ultimate SP 1
Avast Internet Security - Latest... 2014.9.0.2008

Is there a newer version to that dll? Because it's still dated 10/31/2013....

Hi,
can you please send me debug log? It should be placed at c:\programdata\avast software\avast\log\asoutext.log (there can be 32 or 64 in the name, so send me please all files that looks similar to this name).

Thanks,

Eddy, I already did yesterday and have had some great help in how to get the 2014.9.0.2008 off my computers and install an older one. Just wanted to let the OP know there are others with Outlook issues, too, even though it might not be the same one.  (I did submit a ticket also, but haven't heard anything back except an auto response that the ticket was received.)

PamJ,
send the log too (here, pm or to email) :-)

There is one known bug for me in outlook and it is automatic whitelisting address book contacts. Can you try to disable "add entries from address book to whitelist automatically" at antispam shield? It could help (if you have version with antispam).

Thanks,

Glad to see a Avast Team member joining the Forum but I'm confused with the above statement........
.....there are tons of posts on Outlook issues.....just a couple.....

To me I have about 40 PCs on Avast......biz paid for.....several home on Free......ALL still on V8.
I am horrified to move any of them to V9 with all the issues.....many of which far more serious than Outlook.
However, with no ability to send emails if all the more critical issues are solved I still would not move.....must solve email/Outlook items.
I moved all my PCs years ago from AVG when they changed from ironically AVG8 to AVG9 and they bricked thousands of PCs.
AVG9 was also their attempt to branch out and turned a great product into un-usable bloat-wear.
I sure hope Avast.......not giving up on you yet.....gets a handle on Avast 2014 issues.....you are not giving power uses warm and fuzzies.

PM, not sure what log you're referring to, as I don't get any errors; Outlook just won't send emails while avast! Free (2014.9.0.2008) is enabled.  And as thekochs, I'm also confused with the "automatic whitelisting address book contacts" as well.

(The first link in thekochs' post regarding Outlook issues is mine.)

They are on their own thread......and not answered BTW.
I am answering a comment to the Avast Team member that he states he only knows of one Outlook issue.......clearly there are more.
I assume from him not being aware of other issues he may want the links to the threads.....plenty more I just put two.
I'd be less concerned about how these threads look and more about that they are not being answered.

Please Folks! I started this separate thread so I wouldn't get yelled at for Hijacking. Please refrain from doing so unless you have the same issue.... Geeze!

Hi,
this is a bug. Can you write the version of AavmRpc.dll, AavmRpc64.dll, AsOutExt.dll and AsOutExt64.dll? All of these files are located at c:\program files\avast software\avast.

Thanks,
pm

Both aavmrpch are the same revs: 9.0.2008.177

Both asoutext are the same revs: 8.0.1501.391
