4.8.1282 Free Home Edition Report
« on: November 12, 2008, 09:49:40 PM »
Downloaded without any hitches whatsoever, but then I am not surprised as I have never at any time had a problem upgrading Avast, unlike some other AV software.

Also the program itself is working normally, so I would like to thank ALL involved in their time and effort putting all of this together.

Avast the best!

 ;)

I installed it on My Vista Business machine and it blue screened on boot. I had to remove it completely. Tried to installed it 3 more times all with the same result. I now am running Windows Live Onecare for now. On my Xp home machine it blues screened on restart and the second restart went OK. I am not even going to upgrade my other Vista Ultimate machine. There is definitely some type of problem with this release.

Everything is working just fine here also on my computers (XP SP3, Vista Home Premium), both Pro and Home version of avast!

Sorry to hear that you have problems. If you got some minidump files (Windows\Minidump) after the BSOD, send them to vlk (at) avast.com and link to this thread.

On my Vista Business machine it could be due to the fact that I am running Vista SP2. I am getting a new machine in, tomorrow with Vista Ultimate. I plan on installing Avast on it then. I will get back and report how it goes. This machine is getting trashed anyway so it is no big deal. Windows Live OneCare is kind of _____! I have been an Avast user for years and this was the first problem I ever had with it.

I noticed something.  Why is utorrent in the p2p shield by default not check marked?  It becomes customized when it is ticked off.

This is something that is not exactly new to this release.

I'm afraid I spoke too soon. I saved updating my main computer (XP Home) for last and Windows can't get past the wallpaper. No wave file, no taskbar- nothing but wallpaper.

I have been in the process of rebooting with no success.

Any suggestions short of  [gasp] reformatting?

Please disregard. Windows finally loaded.

Dear Avast Team and Forum Members,

The latest Avast Pro 4.8.1282 is installed and running on my machine without error or any problems.

I am running Windows XP SP3.

I have been using Avast for around 3-4 years now and it's never let me down!!

Thanks again for all the hard work and a great anti-virus product!
