Title: The maximum storage size of your Google Drive account has been reached
Post by: REDACTED on June 16, 2014, 02:47:13 PM
Got an error with Avast Mobile Backup, telling me "The maximum storage size of your Google Drive account has been reached"

However my Google Drive is showing I've used 2.2gb out of 25gb. No where near full.

I've now deleted all the image backup files from Google Drive and on the Avast account page (note that selecting the 'delete from Google Drive' option when deleting from My Avast, results in errors all the time).

However the phone still thinks it's backed up all the images. I can't get it to reset and start again.

For now I've disabled the image backup. Google+ backs up my own photos anyway. Everything else are downloads or edits of images in various other apps, which generally I've posted somewhere online so don't really need them backed up.

Still, the error about storage space is odd.

I'm getting the same message for the last few days and still have 33% free space or about 5 GB free.  No help from Avast support on this issue.

I'm also getting the same message, and there is plenty free space on my google drive. It's very annoying. Does anyone have a solution since Avast support doesn't have a clue?

Me too.  I got an email saying this on June 18, and have no idea why.  I can't believe Avast support has no clue about it!

Think the recent change in Legacy Storage may have something to do with this?  Change occurred in May 2013, where the three elements were unified:
Quote
In May 2013, Google Drive storage was unified, meaning that your free storage space, as well as storage you've purchased, is now shared across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google+ Photos. Any storage purchases, promotions, or adjustments that have been applied to your account in the past will be reflected in your amount of unified storage
See:  https://support.google.com/drive/answer/39567?hl=en&ref_topic=2375005 (https://support.google.com/drive/answer/39567?hl=en&ref_topic=2375005)

Evangelists and Uberevangelists are volunteers and are not members of the avast! team.  As Google Drive is offered by avast! but is not the actual vendor of this service, it might be a good idea to contact Google Drive directly for the help you require.

If you wish, you can post back here what Google says.

I am also experiencing this problem. I have over 12 GB of storage left. I see no way to fix this in Google or Avast. Google says that all storage is unified across all Google apps but doesn't mention anything about other apps. Is this an artificial limit being imposed by Avast? I need to fix this in order for Avast Backup to be useful. Any other opinions or news?

Thanks - Michael

Same problem. Google says I'm using 16% of my total storage. Just started happening in the past week or so, so I don't understand how it could have something to do with a May 2013 change in Legacy Storage. Seems to me Avast needs to own this problem.

I have been getting this problem via email, along with, within the app itself "an error occurred when connecting to the server (Communication was interrupted due to connection problems)" on multiple files once I enabled backing up of apps.  Backing up of SMS, Contacts and Call Log is fine.  Haven't tried Images, Audio Files or Videos.

It seems that Avast!'s backup is real flaky and can't cope with any disruptions in communications.  It has yet to complete backing up the apps since I enabled it some time ago.

Hi,

do you see that message inside the Backup app or on your avast! Account (or both)?

Ditto. I'm getting the message  -- avast! Account Notification - Max Google Drive storage size reached  -- via emai and in the mobile app itself on my phone for several days now. It won't do a back up. If I click through to Settings, though, and click on Google Drive account, it tells me it's set up and ready to use.

Then it emails me that there's no room. (But there's plenty of room...)

Email says:
---
NOTE: Information email only - PLEASE DO NOT REPLY

The maximum storage size of your Google Drive account has been reached.
Owner:
Show device in avast! Account portal

AVAST Software
http://www.avast.com

---
So this is all very confusing and getting to be annoying. Other than this the app has performed well, and I've been an Avast customer for several years now. I really LIKE  your products. Please fix! Thanks!

I receive this failure message on a regular basis. There are two different errors received.
Backups from the phone say "Backup problem: The Google Drive target folder was not found."

The error in the web portal and in the failure email both say "The maximum storage size of your Google Drive account has been reached."

Once I log into my.avast.com the backup succeed with me having to change anything. It seems like there is some inactivity lock on the profile that prevents backups from occuring if you have not used the web portal in a while.

Hi,

do you see that message inside the Backup app or on your avast! Account (or both)?

Hi,
unfortunately it seems that after authorization renewal the old backup folder is no longer visible for the client (via Google API). I'm trying to solve this, but currently it leads to errors like this. New folder with exactly same name is created and new files are backuped there.
When this message appears, retry should work (even if you don't visit my.avast.com).

I'm having the same problem - automated Avast Backup fails stating that "The maximum storage size of your Google Drive account has been reached."

But I am nowhere near the limit on my Google Drive account, and when I choose to run the backup manually, it is ok, and uploads required files correctly, to the correct folder.

This is a problem with Avast, since  I installed the last update to the app.

I am having the same problem with the message that Google Drive does not have room for Avast to back up. It has been several days, and the problem continues. VA

I have been getting this error for a while now. I think Avast is any error as "The maximum storage size of your Google Driveā„¢ account has been reached." error. Personally I think it's more likely a maximum transaction error. But I have no way of knowing without the actual error code.

Same old, same old.
Only 7% of my Google Drive used.
And still the message appears daily.
Please sort this out Avast  >:(

This started on my Nexus 5 backups on June 9th. Some data was backed up to my Google Drive (which has more than 14GB free) on June 13th and 16th. I have been getting consistent failures since then.

I didn't find the permanent solution but the I think I found the way to work around it. If you go to your google drive and check your drive you will see avast folder. Just right click on the avast folder and copy the foldername and rename that file something else ( I just put 1 at the end of the filename). Then Create a new folder and paste the foldername you just copied. hit Ok. Run you Backup on your phone. You should be good to go. It worked for me and I hope it will work for you guys. Good luck!!

I managed to log on to my.avast.com but then get this after a few moments:

Internal server error!
Requested service not available at the moment! Please try again later.

Note: this is a repeatable error message...

and I'm still getting both the email and phone notices. Just sayin'....

This has been going on for at least a week.  There are multiple threads here about it.  I was hoping for an answer, or at least a fix.

One update applied itself on my Samsung Galaxy S3, everything worked perfectly for one day, and then this morning the out of space error was back.

Enough already.  I've uninstalled the Backup and the main Avast! app.  I've put way too much time into trying to figure this out on my own, and clearly no one at Avast! gives a damn about answering any questions.

Sorry, but I told you that I'm working on it. It's not as easy as you may think...
I have fix on the stage server at this moment, hopefully it will be deployed soon.

Many thanks for your support Genda. A lot of us are facing this issue.
Anyway, if it worths, for me, after the first error, if you insist, it works at the second time.

Should be fixed. Just have restarted production servers and so far one single notification of this type sent (during 10 minutes), before it was like 60 per second :-/
Please confirm that this message has stopped showing (except case that it's right).
Thanks for staying with avast!.

Same exact problem here:

Backups from the phone say "Backup problem: The Google Drive target folder was not found."

manual backups seem to work, although I can't see them on my Google drive.

Watch out the https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=151115.0, this is known problem after re-authorization... Or is there a connection to the "maximum storage size of your Google Drive account has been reached" message?

What's difference between "manual backups" and "backups from phone"?

I am very new to this.  I chose this system to back up my mobile phone photos, music etc, but it has been a problem from the get go and I paid $19.99 for this piece of crap software!!!  I just want to back up my Samsung Galaxy S4 to my PC.  My PC backs up automatically to an external drive which is kept safe etc.  I keep getting these error messages about Google drive reaching its limit and I cannot see from this post that there really has been much of a fix.  What i would like is my money back and to delete this app.  If I can't get my money back will Avast re-bill me for another year this time next year???  Is there some kind of opt out function so this time next year they won't take another installment?  I am just sick and tired of mucking around with this program.

I had many problems with backing up.

Kept getting notifications saying Drive Folder could not be found, maximum storage reached, invalid credentials and error connecting to server.

I disabled and reconfigured through Avast's web portal and on app, as well as uninstalled multiple times.

What seemed to have worked for me is turning off Google's 2-Step Verification. I think for me (and possibly others), there was some type of connection issue when having Google's 2-Step verification enabled.

After turning that off 2-Step I:
-disabled GDrive through Avast's web portal
-uninstalled and reinstalled app
-reconfigured everything.

Haven't had a notice or error since.
