Title: Avast blocking my network
Post by: REDACTED on June 01, 2015, 06:39:54 PM
Avast has set my network as public/high risk but it isn't giving me access to the internet. I've called twice, each time they want to sell me on a service provided to clean my computer. I know this is not the issue but no one is really listening to me. Can you please help?

Not sure who you are but back it off. It is a network set up that I didn't do. Make sense?

Hi you Annabelle2,

Next to doing what Pondus advice is,
know that it is the Avast Network Scan alerting, now you could try and get the insecurity confirmed via this scan:
https://campaigns.f-secure.com/router-checker/
Not as revealing as the Avast console network scan, but good for a quick and dirty. Tell us what it finds?

The network I'm having the issue on is at work and it wont allow me to run those programs. I know it's a setting in Avast because I use it 5 days a week and it never had an issue until I purchased Avast internet security. I connect to a medical facility so it's pretty locked down except for approved websites. I can't even get to that now.

I was using Avast free edition.
So it's obviously the Avast Firewall Module that needs to be adjusted.

No problem at home

That is correct Bob. Avast isn't happy that I bought their software and now wants to charge me almost $200 when I know for a fact it's a setting and not an issue with my laptop.

You're talking about the third party support. Not something I or any of the other volunteers here would recommend.  :(

No, that doesn't make any sense at all. It is your network and it doesn't matter if you have set it up or someone else. It still is your network and you should know how it is setup.
