How to Update Small Office Administration Console

1. You can update directly from the SOA console via the console Update Tab (*Please note that if you were using the Test BETA then you CAN NOT update from the console directly and must run the new installer over the beta console and then redeploy to the clients.

OR (if you have some trouble updating this way)

2. You can update the SOA console by running the new installer found in the downloads on the avast! website.  Please be sure to choose the correct Endpoint Product + Mirror when running over your current installation.

How to Update Enterprise Administration Console (AEA)

1. You can update the EA console by going to the Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Choose update option and the console will update automatically.  Once the update is complete you can

*Please note that after the client has received the new program update or new installation a reboot is typically needed to complete the update.

When I try to update SOA - SOA goes to https://www.avast.com/release-history-console - 404 error.

Can we use old stable links? Are they have new build?

SOA update is not working directly from console, download standalone installer and try again (please run a backup job before).

The "non-plus-ultra" in the story: the new SOA required the latest Silverlight plug-in, BUT the "Click here to download the latest version of Silverlight" link points to an older version... so everyone with the same issue go and download Silverlight plug-in from the Microsoft's Silverlight site...  ::)

BTW.. Standalone SOA installer works flawless...

Great news, we're hoping so.

But yes for silverlight installations you can do the following for chrome.

How to Enable NPAPI plugins (Silverlight) - Windows only

1. Open Chrome and browse to chrome://flags/#enable-npapi

2. Click the Enable NPAPI setting.

3. After that, click "Relaunch Now" at the bottom of your Chrome window. Note: Closing and reopening Chrome is not sufficient, you must click the "Relaunch Now" button.

4. Once Chrome relaunches, verify Silverlight is installed by browsing to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx

5. If you see the below message, browse back out to Panopto and continue as normal

6. If you see the below message, Silverlight is not currently installed. Please click the "Click to Install" button to install Silverlight.

This should resolve your issue but if not please let me know.

@Che Johnson
Your post for Chrome will not work for *64 Chrome, as I know - all x64 browsers not work with Silverlight

But I will check now this, and say - works or no

chrome://flags/#enable-npapi - I not see exactly npapi "enable" in opened page-list of experimental features.
Title: Re: Official Endpoint Protection Program Update Release
Post by: _George_ on December 10, 2015, 10:45:44 AM
Yes, npapi not in list, because
NPAPI support will be completely removed from Chrome. We expect this to happen before the end of 2014. – (Google Chrome team)
This means by end of this year Silverlight will stop functioning in the Chrome browser, which represents roughly a 45% audience based on June 2014 browser statistics.

c:\install\setup_enterprise_eps.exe -> update -> next -- There was an error for changing product configuration

Fact is Silverlight will died like Flash in the near future, with all security bugs, that is the cause why Chrome, FF and all others kicked it out, and the workaround help but it not the right way for the future, Avast !

"Microsoft announced that the upcoming Edge browser, available in Windows 10, will not support Silverlight for video playback. Originally developed by Microsoft as an alternative to Adobe Flash, development around Silverlight was focused on streaming media, but became obsolete over time as support for a more universal standard in HTML5 was being developed. Microsoft actively stopped developing Silverlight in 2013 and competing browsers, like Google Chrome, are ending support for Silverlight."

Hi, I can't run the latest SOA on Windows 2003 Server. It complains that Silverlight is out of date, but it's running the latest version available for XP/2003 which is 5.1.40416.0. There is a later version 5.1.41105.0, but appears to be for Windows 7/2008 Server and later.

Any way to bypass the check for the latest version?

First thank you for the release for Windows 10

Second, the firewall refuses to install. Have tried on multiple machines and its a no go.

I have ran uninstall/change from control panel to manually add the firewall and its a no go also. States "The Avast! Firewall driver couldn't be installed. The installation will proceed without the avast! firewall component."

The firewall is enabled on the AEA.

Anyone ideas as to what may be wrong... Client is Windows 10 Pro

Try to restart PC 2-3 time (I'm serious), and than firewall will start. Not forget to disable Windows firewall.

I'm using Avast EPS with Enterprise Administration Console and have 600 users. Around 400 users are located at the remote site with connected by private network. I can update VPS for the remote client normally, but it can't be update the program since they don't have Internet access. It's a problem why the program update through the Internet instead of our EAS server. Please help and thanks in advance.

You could deploy a secondary mirror to that site and point the clients to it.

Also make sure your not over your license count since with EA if those machines are not connected they would try to update via the internet.  Check to see if you have any key icons in your computer catalog over any of the machines?

Hi, to all of you having problems with SOA+Silverlight, here you have a post from the spanish forum that I hope help you (google translate but I think it will be clear):

I have the console and start again with the latest version.
It turns out that the version of Silverlight is requesting the 5.1.40728.0 console while the link opens in the browser or on the official website is 5.1.30514.0 or 5.1.40416.0, depends on (or XP operating system W2003Server ).
I searched Google full version 5.1.40728.0 download and once installed and restarted the browser, and I have access to the console.

I put the links that I have located:
32bit

Firstly, as far as I knew, if I don't deploy the secondary mirror, all the client should connect my EAS as first priority update source instead of the Avast public server.
Secondly, I have built the mirror server, the client was connected for VPS update, but it still connect to the Internet for program update.

Downloads and updates the latest version of all avast! components.

Current version:

Latest version available:

It should do what you configure it to do.

Untick the 'If mirror is unreachable, update from the Internet' option in Computer catalog > Policies: avast! Antivirus > Updates and let us know if the clients update the program from the Internet now.

Hello Avast Support, Hello Che

please let us business user know what will avast do in the near future, all seems to be that Endpoint Protection will not really develop anymore.

1) Endpoint Protection legacy products !?! / Need a log Time for this Update.
2) Version Number 8.0.1603 -> 8.0.1606
3) Cloud Version / That not have all feature from SOA or AEA !
4) Silverlight / End of Life

So what will come in the Future, Information please ???

Our Licence END in January 2016 maybe not expand it.

Thank You

Finally, the version works with Windows 10. However, I have some issues with Windows 7 and Windows 8 now! Windows reports that no anti-virus is installed. I'm pretty sure that the anti-virus is actually working (my SOA console shows it to be ok on all computers), so this might just be something 'cosmetic'. Has anyone else experienced this?

We are having the same issue as others on this forum.

When checking for updates via the Control Panel --> Programs and Features we get the following:

Current version:
 - program: 8.0.369
 - setup: 8.0.369

Latest version available:
 - program: 8.0.369

It is March 31, 2016. Please advise when this issue will be taken care of.

I cannot get in to the console now.
