Seems like the Avast Free is better than the Avast Premium, because Avast Free has never bothered me with anything at all for an entire year until it's time to do the annual re-registration thing.
Now that I have Avast Premium since last night (Premium Security for 1 year), I've already got 2-3 of these popups asking to "Renew early and save up to $60".
It's literally the first day of a year-long subscription and it's already asking me to renew, AND with no option to turn off the popup despite already having Silent Mode on?
Can something be done about this? No disable, only suffer? Abandon hope all ye who buy premium?

If I remember rightly, others have reported this and they have the ads/promotions disabled and also wasn't this reported/considered a bug that needs fixed ?

Unfortunately not, but if I recall it was shortly after this latest program update and I think you responded in the same way to switch off the ads. Which the user did but that didn't stop it.
Having Avast Free I haven't suffered the renew early popup. We will have to see if the OP can or has the ads switched off and if they have stopped.

Hello. I checked the Personal Privacy page after you directed me to it, these are the
settings I had in the pic below, nothing changed.
Also ever since making this topic, I have not yet had another popup, even with no
settings changed, but maybe it was because I was in a full-screen game this entire time?
I will be sure to reply to this topic if it happens again tomorrow (or any time after) to keep you updated.

Try this to report a bug, at the very least it should have them investigate the problem.
Right click on the Avast tray icon > About Avast - Found a bug let us know - Let us Know button - Select I have found a bug option - in this window a brief explanation of the bug (your problem) and click the Submit Feedback. I would suggest giving a link back to this topic, as it will give more information than the text based bug report can.

I'm getting these popups too, despite my subscription being good until October this year AND despite me having Silent Mode enabled.
It's really annoying to continually clear this advertising from a product I purchased so I wouldn't have any advertising!
If Avast don't fix this soon, I'll be buying a different brand of antivirus and will never use Avast again.
-
Hi,
We are currently looking into this issue.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

I have premium and they are bombarding me with this stupid bullshit. I am also running in silent mode, so this obnoxious and repulsive corporate moneygrubbery is likely going to cause me to find a different service.
This is bullshit.

We face the same problem. I thought avast will fix the annoying disturbing interrupting reminder on the latest-newest-best-ever-version, but NOT, keep poping up. I've give up avast, will stop continue subscribe premium.
-
Getting this same crap. PAID version, all the checkboxes in the Settings/General/Personal Privacy turned off. EVERY FRIGGIN DAY I GET THE PROMO POPUP.
I might actually just uninstall Avast before my subscription ends because this is way too disruptive on my machine.
-
As an update and to clarify the pop message issue.
This is not a bug. We are offering an upgrade service package (Ultimate).
We believe this to be a great deal and package. We understand the frustration with the pop-up offer, and we're looking into doing optimizations on the frequency of these.
It is currently not possible to disable these upgrade offers within Avast. However, we are looking into solutions.
-
I'm sorry but that is not a good excuse.
The simplest thing you could've done was add a "remind me in xxx days" or something to that effect. Forcing a popup on us with no way of muting it? That's the exact kind of thing we expected to NOT see after buying the software.
-
What about things that don't use full screen... spreadsheets, text editors... stuff in maximized windows? Not games. My focus gets stolen multiple times a day. I have NOT yet renewed because I am sick of being nagged by popups while I still have a paid subscription. Wait until I let it lapse before turning on malware mode.

Agreed that, bro. This "pop-up" problem only occur recently, past few year was quite good. as a many years of royalty of avast user, i feel disappointment on what avast did to his royalty subscriber user. I am going to give up avast n look for other product service.

The Nigerian Prince thinks he has a good deal also.
The best solution is to remove it. I had 90 days of subscription left when my antivirus went full on malware mode. I still have around 60. The irony is that we buy your product to stop software that does what you are actively and openly doing from being installed. I have used plenty of "free" adware and none of it has ever done what this paid product is doing.

I find this very hard to believe. You can design software to remove a multitude of viruses from my PC, but you can't prevent your software from putting advertising material on my screen. Really???
-
Dev-Info: FYI, we are going to check NAGS vs silent mode.
-
Just popping in to say that it's offensive that a paid program is throwing these popups at me constantly like it's shareware, and that the company's response is "Yeah, we did it on purpose. You're welcome." This could have been just a single email sent to every subscriber.
It's convenient that these popups are happening when my subscription is about to expire, because I'll be one of the people not renewing it. Please remember that people expect your paid product to be unobtrusive, and lots of popup advertisements lower its appeal tremendously.
-
I'm also fed up with the annoying popups and no way to turn it off. Wish they could add a drop-down like the restart so I could click "Remind me next century". Any recommendations on other antivirus programs?

02.08.21 update, intrusive add still occurring often. ill definitely cancel my subscription. I had issues with other Avast adds before I learnt how to run off the settings. they must not realise how Malware and Adware affect users.
Did anyone realise the price annoyingly advertised to existing premium users was more expensive than that advertised on Avast's website? As they are running a SAVE 30% offer. but obviously this is not available to us dummies. A bit of a scam I’d say.

They (sales department) must especially realise (achieve ;) ) .... a better profit.
I've never seen a big company that makes a mistake in its sales policy without reacting, so if avast makes a mistake, we'll know about it soon .... the popups will disappear.
-
Been getting the same issue.
Gone over all the settings. The popups happen on two different machines. I'm subscribed to both.
It's been reported as a bug. This is bad programming, bad sales, bad business. I pay to NOT have ads. This includes yours. Send it by E-mail. If I like it, I'll take it.
I'm subscribed to your service because I've had it for years, it works, it had features, it runs lighter than your competitors, and it wasn't getting in my face. The last point, it's doing piss poorly in.
There's no excuse. You are not making a nice promo, it's not worth the hassle, and if you want to save money, try seeing if management will hire new marketing, sales, and even management to replace themselves.
-
Yep, agree with you all, the ad has appeared on all my PCs twice now, very annoying.
It's not even a good price, £70+ for 10 devices, for which I only pay £25 for now.
-
....on all my PCs....
...for which I only pay £25 for now.
For ultimate 10 devices ?
As said by r@vast:
We are offering an upgrade service package (Ultimate).
We believe this to be a great deal and package.
-
Avast Premium Security - yes 10 devices.
Their pricing is all over the place, the rules seem to be:
1. Let take a punt see what we can get, offer renewal for £75
2. Oh, you haven't renewed, well here's a special offer for £24.99 instead.
Deceitful practice now plaguing the Internet.
It's also getting too module heavy, too many upselling crap components (yes I know I can switch them off and do).
I've given up recommending Avast to my clients now.
-
Another today at bootup time!
5th one in 3 weeks.
Avast, you said you were looking into it - look harder and stop it.
-
Those annoying adverts seemed to reduce in frequency for a few weeks after I originally complained, but they've ramped up again in the last week or so. Several times they've popped up over the top of work I was doing on my PC. How unprofessional.
My anti-virus renewal is due in October this year and I need to decide whether to continue with Avast for another year (or two), which probably means a lot more adverts, or, move to another anti-virus program.
Avast - you've made the decision very easy for me. You're ignoring the complaints in this thread and your marketing people have clearly taken over the company. It's a pity, as you originally provided exactly what people paid for. Only those using your free anti-virus program had to tolerate adverts.
-
Hi,
We are genuinely sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Please know that we are still working on a permanent fix, and we hope to release it soon.
-
Hello, thank you r44flyer for the screen. It seems you have ultimate (AV+cleanup+vpn). The screen is probably from Avast Cleanup. Silent mode is set for AV now. We are working on a fix, which will disable ads for Cleanup too. From my point of view silent mode in AV should be shared by other Avast apps on the same machine, especially for our best customers with ultimate.
-
No, I have Avast Premium Security, not Ultimate.
But the stupid thing is it thinks I own Antitrack Premium & Driver updater, which I don't (bug mentioned on another thread).
Another 'renewal' pop-up today - sick of it!
Backed up, about to remove Avast and try something else instead!
Avast has too many modules, too complicated, too many bugs, malicious marketing, upselling - why would I want it anymore?
-
I'm experiencing the same behavior for my Premium Avast with Silent mode on and Offers turned off. Whether this is a bug or a promotion, I dislike it.
I have intolerance to marketing campaigns that blatantly aim to take more money from me. This is exactly what it does. I like Avast. I'm not a basic user, so I don't easily fall into phishing or scam attempts, so Avast is just a cushion for me to feel better. This AV is relatively lightweight and does not interfere with gaming which is important for me. HOWEVER, I'm considering my options mainly because of this annoying pop-up every fucking time that I start windows (and a little bit because the follow-up yearly subscriptions keep getting more and more expensive and the curve is slightly more steep than I'd feel comfortable with).
-
Just canceled my renewal i bought Avast so i didn't get this stuff put up with it Last year till my renewal I'm done this year i know I'm a drop in the ocean and Avast doesn't care but I'm done Good luck.
-
Hi,
We are genuinely sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Please know that we are still working on a permanent fix, and we hope to release it soon.
And yet here we are on 6th November and I'm still getting these pop up probably 5 times a week. I will be cancelling my renewal and finding an alternative.

Hi,
You seem to have Avast Premium Security, and enabling silent mode should fix this. Please see https://support.avast.com/en-eu/article/Antivirus-popup-notifications/
If you are receiving the renew early notifications after having enabled silent mode, please contact Avast Support via https://support.avast.com/en-gb/contact/paid
-
Zero reason that you should have to enable Silent Mode to not see the ads.
This issue that has been ongoing for months plus the inability to manage subscriptions/devices on the website since the redesign already makes me inclined to not bother rewnewing.
Paying for a service should mean you do not gets ads or obnoxious popups, yet there always seems to be some kind of issue involving this.
-
I also keep getting these annoying popups, at this point I'm so ticked off that I'm going to change to another Anti virus provider. Can't believe that they do this to paying customers.
-
I followed through and cancelled my renewal.
I installed Malwarebytes Premium (on 3 PCs) in September 2021 and haven't had any issues with it.
It runs in the background quietly and scans are efficient.
No annoying Pop-ups.
Occasionally a message from MB that a particular Google searched website has been blocked and would be un-wise to proceed.
So all good for me getting rid of Avast.

It's not an AV but, it's your computer.

At the same time, the last known virus dates back to 2011 and the name "antivirus" is mainly used for commercial reasons.
"Because consumers believe that the words 'virus' and 'computer threat' are synonymous, companies name their cybersecurity software products 'antivirus,' leading consumers to believe that viruses are still the problem."
Yes, it's up to everyone to look for answers on the web, but highlighting only the commercial term used (antivirus) - without any other technical explanations - seems to be very light to determine the real level of protection. :-\
Many anti-malware products are de facto anti-viruses, as the viruses themselves are malware.
Of course, this does not mean that Avast antivirus is a simple antivirus, otherwise it would be a real security sieve.
I use avast, but the fact that it advertises "anti-virus" has never been a lesser factor in my choice .... otherwise I know how to read when "anti-malware" products explain how they also protect against "viruses".
-
Any status on fixing his issue?
Been getting it again for months now, but been hoping it would have finally been fixed.
Instead the only change I've seen is to the Firewall settings which is more cumbersome to use than before and still doesn't have a way to export/import Firewall rules.

Hi, you can export/import (screenshot) your settings.
Then it must be bugged as using Import/Export from there did not keep any of the previous Application Settings or manually blocked IP ranges.

Rather not go to a build that isn't ready for a full public release yet.
On the main subject of this topic, have noticed that the spam alert seems to pop up at regular intervals, and if it is supposed to be an intentional thing then it is having the exact opposite effect. A popup should never happen to PAID users, especially when they're at ~6 months away from their subscription ending.
Even if it was close, this should be relegated to one email within a month close to the expiration, not as a daily popup to everyone within the same subscription.
Most frustrating part is that there's been little word on why this is happening at all.

Looks like I'm actually already on 2.11.2500, though has it listed as being released on the 9th which is what threw me off.
Exporting and then importing to a new PC definitely did not work as I recently (around the 20th) installed Avast to a fresh PC and imported settings only to see none of the Firewall settings be there.

Mine is on 21.11.2500 (build 21.11.6809.528).

So basically if I am reading this correct, the program we pay for to remove viruses and spam from other sources is in turn spamming up with daily upgrade offers? And this is what the company INTENDS.

Hi,
You seem to have Avast Premium Security, and enabling silent mode should fix this. Please see https://support.avast.com/en-eu/article/Antivirus-popup-notifications/
If you are receiving the renew early notifications after having enabled silent mode, please contact Avast Support via https://support.avast.com/en-gb/contact/paid
It would be nice if R@VAST (https://forum.avast.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1539081) would respond further to explain this.
-
Ad spam has actually gotten worse lately with even more intrusive popups.
Just have a toggle for those that are already paying customers.
Spamming paid subscribers with constant upsell popups is a good way to lose business.
-
Spamming paid subscribers with constant upsell popups is a good way to lose business.
I don't know a company that persists with a strategy that causes it to lose more customers than it gains.
Even if these popups don't make us happy, avast must be with it
-
I'd like to add my voice to the unhappy customers. I am considering ending my Avast subscription if this does not change. The CONSTANT popups on every device asking me to upgrade and telling me to upgrade early are very annoying. I'm a paid premium member for years. An offer once every couple of months or during a special holiday promo is one thing but this is every single device every single day.
-
..... but this is every single device every single day.
I myself have been using the paid version for more than 10 years now, on 6 devices and I am far from having a popup every day .... I can't remember the last one I received ;).
Have you read this whole topic especially #2 to make sure you have unchecked the boxes that allow you to limit everyday popups?
nb: the topic here is more specific and is only a little over 6 months old and only targets customers who are expiring their subscription.

Nope.
Don't misrepresent the issue.
Subscription can have 6+ months left on it and be set to auto-renew but still give a popup every day to upsell to a different version. All PCs using the subscription would be subject to the nag popups.
All notification and options can be toggled to not display, but yet these persist, even on brand new PCs that just had Avast installed. Then just like clockwork, the upsell message shows to upgrade from Premium Security to Ultimate.
Gone are the days of this (https://forum.avast.com/?topic=218745.0).
So many more features available back in that version of the interface.
Though I've now since just disabled the auto-renew as I doubt it'll be fixed, and don't need all people on my subscription to be spammed with it every day.
-
I have deactivated the automatic renewal too of my avast premium security multi-device, as I have done for the past 10 years after each voluntary renewal.
The only popup prompting me to buy appear 15 days before expiration, but never during my subscription (nothing 6 months before, nothing 2 months before).
Maybe I'm a privileged customer? I don't think so.
-
Hi, (just like Chris) I haven't seen such "nags" here.
Did you buy from Avast directly or from a reseller..?
