Title: Windows 8 and Avast
Post by: g67 on June 09, 2012, 04:46:15 AM
I just downloaded and installed Windows 8 release preview.   Windows Defender has  malware and antivirus. I still have Avast installed. Will running these two antivirus programs at the same time be a conflict? Do I need to run both?

Never use 2 antivirus programs at the same time! Deactivate Windows Defender realtime protection.

Windows Defender is NOT a full antivirus and it is fully compatible with avast!

You're not correct. It has changed in Win 8: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Defender#Windows_8

avast installation (avast Internet Security edition) disabled Windows Defender on my PC. It is my experience.

Good, as it's the way it should work. :)
