It was COMODO and avast! not getting along.
I once ran COMODO Firewall Free, and after years of operation, system lockups, freezes, and crashes, got rid of it and have not looked back since. Avast! really had nothing to do with these issues; it was, I believe the D+ module within COMODO that was the source and the culprit. That, and the fact that the cloud portion of D+ would check
everything the system ran and made it run slowly at times, sometimes depending on COMODO server connectivity and availability, that was the real reason for the incompatibility. It sometimes interfered with normal Avast! operation, so much so, that Avast! sometimes struggled to run at all. As the a/v is critical for proper system functionality, COMODO had to go.
This struggling occurred even tho exceptions were made for both COMODO and Avast!.
