that means avast! will scan from the begining of the file to the end of it ?

that was what  I supposed a right way or a method for a AV software .
bu I have seen some case that some AV software do not work like that/
so i am confused now

It depends on the selected scan sensitivity; for a "thorough" scan, it does scan the whole file. For lower sensitivities, it depends on the particular file type.
