Scan problem

today i made a scan
it told me taht it failed  to scan some "*.rar,*.zip " files because it did not have password to open and scan  those files ,but i promise those files are not setted password.
why did it told me that?

avast can't scan files that are password protected, it doesn't know the password.
There are many legitimate reasons why a file was password protected. For instance, the ones you're talking about. Lavasoft stores its data in a password-protected ZIP archives (to prevent other similar tools from messing up with them). It's really nothing to worry about - it's normal.

In AdAware and S&D, when you fix/remove things it keeps backup/recovery information so you can restore anything that was mistakenly fixed/removed, etc. After a reasonable time your system has suffered no adverse effects, you can get rid of the older recovery/backup points.

This should reduce the number of protected files.

I haven't heard of this problem.

How do you know they haven't got password protection ?
You only find that out when you try to extract the data, which avast has to do in order to scan them.

Are they files you created ?
Are they associated with another program that might want them protected ?

I promise that those files can open directly without input password,and even there are some files I created.
I can say every files in my computer that can be opened or recognized by system are without any password.
I used other Anti-virus software before,and I didn`t met this case.
I want to find out what is the matter.~~

I would like to find out too, as I haven't heard of this problem before.

Can you right click (context menu scan) on the .rar or .zip file and scan it with ashQuick.exe and see if it works with that.

I can tell you it does work on that way i right click~

But while I runned a full scan in my hard drive this morning.It`s scan speed would decrease while the time flying ,and then it stop at an ISO flie ,it is a big file about 600MB,when I push  "cancel " ,It give me a report ,it sayed what i told you ~

I had that strange suspicion that it would work with the right click scan and that essentially uses the same engine so I am at a loss as to why this could be happening.

I mean the num  which avast! count itself while it is scaning my HDD.
and the num is show on the face of avast!.
At the biginning,the num increase quickly,and and then ,the speed of num increasing slow down .

that is what i wonder,
why it would happen?
it is a big disadvantage to a anti-virus,right?in my opinion~~

No... why will you call it a disavantage? It's just a fact... this is the real world: big files, more time to scan  :)
