Yahoo accounts are normally webmail accounts viewed through your browser.

If you are something like a web2mail converter to download your webmail to your inbox then I believe that may use a different protocol (not pop3) and as such may not be scanned.

So is your Yahoo account a POP3 account (which you normally have to pay for) or is it a webmail account that is downloaded with something like ypopper ?

I access to the Yahoo accounts through Thunderbird with a POP3 account. I use a Yahoo server POP3, it's like pop.XXX.yahoo.XXX

That is a mystery as it should be treated as normal, if it worked under OE6 it should work under thunderbird, If you still have OE check it still works in OE and is scanned by avast ?

If it does ensure all settings are the same in thunderbird.

What ports are used to connect to yahoo pop3 ?
If they are not 110 (or it insists on SSL/TLS connection) then avast won't scan them as that is the port it monitors.

I'm at a loss as there doesn't seem to be anything that should get in the way of avast scanning your email.

I'm also a little confused also as in your original post you said you wanted to use secure connections.
I would like to use secure connection and than the mail would be scanned by avast. Could you give me some instructions?

So I'm not sure what it is that is required, or even if you need to have mentioned secure at all, as it doesn't appear to have anything to do with this problem ?

Are You using any anti-spam tools, if so what ?

You don't think you can just use a secure connection unless your ISP supports it. Some ISPs insist on it and then you are forced to use it.

If you then changed your settings in tbird to TLS or SSL then avast 'can't' possibly have worked as it doesn't (can't) scan secure connections, that is the whole point of a secure connection to keep prying eyes out.

These are commonly the secure ports - SSL/TLS (Secure) Ports POP3 995; SMTP Ports, Thunderbird-587, If using these ports avast doesn't monitor them. If you try to use the standard ports 110, 25, etc. and use secure communication with them then avast intercepts those ports but can't scan the encrypted content and it usually fails to upload as it doesn't know how to send to a secure connection.

So I'm even more confused, but that happens easily ;D

I think than I've understood it. You are telling me than although I'm using 110 port to receive the emails, avast can't scan them because my provider is sending me the emails through a secure connection and they are possibly encrypted.

Not exactly as if your original image is still the same using port 10 without TLS/SSL then they aren't encrypted. If you have changed it then things are different completely.

You really need to contact your Yahoo account and ask about using secure email, if they support it ask how the email account should be set up, e.g. what ports to use. If that is the normal email ports and not the ones I showed earlier then avast can't scan your email. So I can't see how as you said you tried secure and it worked, that just isn't possible.

Perhaps a silly question but do you have box checked in the Inter Mail provider's POP tab checked to scan the mail.  In the Redirect tab does it show port 110 for POP?

Not about a double post just that this was offered but no action seemed to have been taken by breixo, this topic has been very confused.
