Yes.
Yes, it is called multi tasking, rather to have one processes trying to handle everything. This can be slower, especially if there is something likely to take more time. Also if one of these tasks/entries has a problem it doesn't effect everything.
Just take a look at your browser entries in the Task manager and you will get the idea.
What you don't show in your image is the CPU and RAM load of these tasks, it is usually quite low/reasonable, unless there is a lot of activity on the computer.
