Multiple Avast processes in Task Manager
« on: March 17, 2022, 06:18:42 AM »
I'm seeing 13 Avast Antivirus processes in Task Manager; in total they're eating up 237Mb of memory. This seems like an awfully large number of processes - is this normal?

Windows 10 Home x64 :: ASUS P6X58-E PRO :: Core i7-965 @ 3.20GHz :: 12 Gb DDR4 multi-channel RAM :: 1TB SSD :: 4TB HDD :: GeForce GTX 1070 :: Sticker that says "Do not open this box. You have no idea what you're doing."

Yes.

Yes, it is called multi tasking, rather to have one processes trying to handle everything. This can be slower, especially if there is something likely to take more time.  Also if one of these tasks/entries has a problem it doesn't effect everything.

Just take a look at your browser entries in the Task manager and you will get the idea.

What you don't show in your image is the CPU and RAM load of these tasks, it is usually quite low/reasonable, unless there is a lot of activity on the computer.
