I have HTC Desire S Android 2.3.3 with kernel version "2.6.35.10-g2ee27f5". I followed the same steps and got "update.zip" on my sdcard. Is there any way I can install this into ROM without using any external flasher?

you must use edify scripting. you can select which script you want when creating the UPDATE.ZIP
