Avast 7.0.1451 and continuing Outlook 2007 issues
« on: July 01, 2012, 05:37:06 PM »
Reposting as a new thread here as I had no reply on the other thread and I also have  one new question.

Updated to 7.0.1451 and had even more problems with Outlook. The previous 7.0.1426 version would allow Outlook to open. However, Outlook would freeze after receiving or sending e-mails and I had to use Windows Task Manager to close and reopen Outlook. I did not disable Business Manager, which some had suggested would solve the issue, as I use it occasionally. After updating to 7.0.1451, Outlook would not even open successfully. I followed the instructions by IvanM in the thread "Avast 7.0.1451 and Outlook Calendar issues"above and downloaded the patches: AsOutext.dll and AsOutExt64.dll. Copied and replaced them in the avast folder after inactivating the Avast self defence as instructed. Checked in Avast folder that both new files were dated 30/06/2012 instead of 28/06/2012, 8.51 am before the patches.

Patches still did not work. I had to allow Outlook to disable Avast add-ins before I could even open Outlook 2007 successfully. I then checked Outlook and saw that both "avast!Add-in" and "avast! Antispam add-in" had indeed been disabled by Outlook.

New question: even with both avast add-ins apparently disabled, the "Mail Shield" in Avast still reported that it was scanning my outgoing and incoming e-mails. Is Avast still working then despite the disabled add-ins???

I am running Outlook 2007 (12.0.6607.1000) SP3 MSO (12.0.6607.1000) and Windows Vista Ultimate SP 2.
