avast! 4, Win XP Pro and Outlook
« on: August 28, 2003, 08:14:33 PM »
I use avast! 4 on windows xp pro.  When I download my email avast! scans my email and thats ok however when I select an unread email it is scanned again.  When I select more than one unread email they are all scanned again, if I change the selection it is all scanned again.  This is beginning to annoy me and I am thinking about another scanner.

You've probably set the resident scanner sensitivity to High, haven't you?

Anyway, you can quite easily change the behavior you're describing. Just click the avast tray icon, select Details >> , double-click the Outlook/Exchange provider and change the appropriate setting (it's on the first configuration page).

Hope this helps,
Vlk

Well, this is the default behavior:

Normal - Scan inbound and outbound messages (when received/sent), and scan all unread messages on open.

High - Scan inbound and outbound messages (when received/sent), and also all messages on open.

You can change any of this using the procedure described above.

Hope this helps,
