scanning messenger file downloads?
« on: August 31, 2003, 05:35:10 PM »
Hi everyone. Am really happy with this program  :) although I am not sure whether the resident scanner takes care of Yahoo and MSN messenger file downloads automatically or do I have to specify a location in the options/preferences on these two messengers to link Avast with the downloads?  ??? If so what exact .exe do I link to in Avast?

Hello ...I have MSN 6.0 and do you have go into the messenger tools options, messages then direct eith the browse button to make sure file transers are scaned? I hade to do this when I used norton. How do I know my incoming files are being scanned?

It should be picked up by avast automatically, provided you're using its latest version (4.1.260 at the moment). To verify this, do some file transfers in the Messenger and watch the 'last scanned file' for the "Instant Messaging" provider (double-click the avast tray icon and select "Details... >>" to access it).
