avast! 4 Home won't scan archives...
« on: January 22, 2005, 01:33:54 PM »
I have recently noticed that avast is not scanning a lot of archives. It used not to scan archives from Adaware Personal SE, but now there is a lot it does not scan. Is this normal? And avast is very slow when scanning. How can you speed things up?

Thanks.
Win 10 Pro, avast Pro Antivirus, SpywareBlaster v5, SuperAntiSpyware Pro v8.0.1038, Comodo Firewall.

In order for Avast to be able to scan a certain archive it must know how the archive is encrypted. If it doesn't know that, it can't scan it.

If there are a "lot" that are not being scanned it can mean two things.
1] You have not selected archive scanning
2] You have a lot of applications installed that are encrypting their files in a way Avast is not recognizing

Slow? What is slow?
Speed up? Depends on the settings you use. More speed normally means less effective scanning.
The choice is yours.

My archive scan is always on. These archives end with the extension .bmp. I have a game installed, I don't know if this might have anything to do with it. Can I delete these archives or move them somewhere else. If so how? And if I move them somewhere else how do I do a restore if something goes wrong?

Thanks for your assistance.

Many games are using 'encrypted' images, so people can not use them game pictures somewhere else or for other things. If the .bmp's are in the games folder, leave them there.
