(Even) Avast (uninstall tool) leaves "Non-Plug and Play Drivers"
« on: September 10, 2012, 11:05:57 PM »
So hey all of you.. people.

Just realized today that after enabling the non-present devices in Device Manager these leftover drivers are going to show up in the "Non-Plug and Play Drivers" section even after a full uninstallation with the Avast! Uninstall Utility (apparently some other guy even made his own Avast! Cleanup Tool because of this):

  • avast! Firewall Core Firewall Service
  • avast! Network Shield Support
  • avast! TDI Firewall driver

I've noticed a lot of other AV/IS apps doing the same thing (like AVG, Antivir, Norton, Kaspersky, Outpost) but so my question is _why_.

Acually yeah. It's been discussed but nowhere was it mentioned _why_ are these left behind.

This wasn't just a thread to advocate the Cleanup Tool.
