What do I miss without script blocking,
« on: February 02, 2005, 07:24:06 PM »
If using Avast Home 4.5?
I read somewhere about VB scripts, but I am using Firefox as my browser.

Anyways great to hear that avast passed the lates vb100 test:
http://www.virusbulletin.com/vb100/archives/tests.xml?200502

But it sure was the pro version.

The vb100 award for both home and pro makes no difference... Their dectection is the same... The only difference is the Enhanced interface and the script scanner like you mentiond...
The script scanner only works for IE, so it makes no difference since you use FF :)

Hi Jarmo!if you use firefox you don't miss anything, because scriptblocker isn't compatible with it.Only I.E ,Mozilla and Netscape.Pro and home have the same detection

One point here... Beware that the scriptscanner only works with older versions of Mozilla and Netscape...

Does Avast home offer more ?
I mean for javascript etc for IE and not the same protection for Firefox?

If I understand your question right you want to know if Avast! protect you from javascripts while surfing with FF?
I'm not sure, but I don't think it does right now (correct me if I'm wrong)...
But the latest beta contains a Web Shield that checks all the data coming in from the internet... The Web Shield will be avalable for both Home and Pro version... The wait for v4.6 will be around two weeks or some...

Jarmo, why not read the help file and use this board to get information and make yourself familiar with everything Avast is offering?

Sorry Eddy, maybe I was too lazy, or not really finding the answers.
My stupid questions.

I like Avast, dumbed my norman even though it had still a year to go on license.

My original guestion still remains.
More protection for IE than Firefox, concerning that missing scripting feature?

Firefox is allot more securer then  IE, not as much protection is needed for us Firefox users (although it would be nice for a compatible firefox version to come out).
If you really still want script blocking in firefox, you could always use a third party freeware such as Analog X script deffender  ;)

Scriptblocking can be easily obtained by installing AnalogX Scriptdefender.

This program intercepts the execution of scripts.

It's a small download and it's quite a famous little program.

Have a look here : http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/system/sdefend.htm

Bye, Fast :)
