Hi all...  I'm new to this forum Q & A thing so be patient if I screw up.  Anyhow... I installed Avast 4.5 yesterday and because of an internet accellerator for my dial-up... it won't scan incoming mail unless I disable the accellerator.  It won't share the port!  Also, I used Avast 4 for about the past 9 mo. or so and I've never had the icon show up in my mail window telling me that it's checking mail.  But, as long as the accellerator is turned off, if I go to the message source in my message properties, it says that it was checked both incoming and outgoing.  Can anyone offer any suggestions to solve my mail problems?  Thanks.... The mail scanning in 4.5 (and up) has changed.

Accelerators pretty much are of no use at all. You can't go over the maximum connections speed.
If you modem connects at 446000 a accelerator won't make it faster.
