My XP computer would not shut down because of a rundll32 problem. "End now" that process was necessary. Then another rundll appeared and two "End now"s became necessary. Nuisance.
My rundll.exe was 47,872 bytes. I repeatedly renamed it but it was restored. Then I renamed it both in windows\system32\ AND in the \system\dllcache file from which it was being restored.
To my surprise rundll32.exe was again restored but now it is 33,280 bytes AND my computer now shuts down easily.
Any comments? Did the 47,872 rundll32 have poison? (By the way, where did the new, smaller rundll32.exe come from?)
Comments will be appreciated.
