locate command gone crazy

Avast 2.0.3377 on my android Motorola razor... and my wife's identical phone too...locate command used to work but has now gone crazy... when I send a locate command to her phone I get back a map link message that recognizes her phone  but the link :takes me to northern Italy... one attempt showed her in Iceland..... we are both in Iowa... what gives?

Could you tell us more about the device (OS, kernel version and type) please? The map link is generated via Google sources and/or GPS sources, sometime it could be strange f.e. Canada or US countries.

can you send us the link? i think no GPS location could be found, so it is tried via Cell ID of cell tower - we query Google database for that data, and sometimes there is cells having absolutely wrong data.

Come to find out that my wife had been in her phone settings and turned OFF the GPS ... that partially explains why the locate didn't work, but shouldn't it be smart enough to tell me that rather than report that her phone is in Italy.
